Hi, I have a trapezoidal shaped curtain system that I am trying to put a curtain grid on it that is all right angles. The curtain grid is automatically slanting the grid lines according to the points on the other side of the object. Attached is an image of what I am talking about. Please help. Thanks.

Can you try it using a Wall:curtain wall or Wall: Storefront...available under the WALL button?

No, because I made this in-place wall family because the glcurseis infact tapering in as it goes up, so I couldn't use one of the wall presets.

oh...then create a mcurseelement that fills the hole in your wall. Now you can add a curtain wall system by face to the mcurseelement and use a Type-Driven Curtain Grid Layout. Check help for this topic "Type-Driven Curtain Grid Layout". Should be able to do it then...

You could also try a sloped glazing roof. I havn't played around with this too much, but it might work.

Ok. I have figured out most of the model and I have an orthagonal curtain grid system, but this is because i need to trim it to form to my roof. Attached are pics of the curtain wall sticking out of the roof. I need to trim this wall to the underside of the roof, and it is an in-place wall family, not a wall, so I cannot just Attach it to the roof. Please help.

I have the same problem in 2011 trial version: My curtain wall is leaning 76 degrees back and only the lower left corner is in a right angle. The top of the curtain wall has a shed roof that makes the whole curtain wall trapezoidal. Every time I use curtain wall system, it creates radial grids and it's annoying. I've tried to use Curtain Grid and it does the same thing. I'm old school and to me, curtain wall rails are always leveled as horizontal and curtain wall mullions are plumbed vertical regardless on were they are leaned to or else it may leak. If I wanted to create irregular shaped glazing I would rather use space framing where member stresses are transfered to each EQUAL LENGTH frame members. Is there a solution to this problem? Or can the curtain system that sticks out of the roof be trimmed? Or can anybody lead me to a solution in these forums? I'm given the task to evaluate this revit software. Thanks

Why don't you FIRST try to attach the TOP of that "Curtain wall" to the Roof?

I did, but the Mullions are doing a radial alignment, I don't want it radial and no contractor will fabricate it that way. Mullions and stile are plumbed vertical even if it's leaning and curtain wall rails are leveled horizontal even if it's curving and zigzagging. How do I stop the Curtain wall Mullion Grids from turning radial. If I make the header or 'TOP' straight then the mullion grids are parallel to each other but if I attach the leaning trapezoidal curtain wall to the slanted roof then it becomes radial. I need this leaning curtain wall mullions to be vertical regardless of its odd shape and diagonal edges. Any more solutions?

Before attaching to roof did you unpin the mullions. Try that please.

Just see the Images posted here. The first one is an elevation for the slanted trapezoid. Notice the mullions are in radial. Can I make it straight in elevation as Revit's default? Is there a way to set this straight at Elevation even if the Curtain wall is leaning and irregular in shape?? Again, notice the horizontal rails aren't leveled but follows the division of the panels because of the sloping roof. Guys... Have you seen a constructed curtain wall that is not leveled? If you did then those are uncommon and custom and I bet it was a part of a multi-million project and is now have leaking problems. Sorry to exaggerate but I'm just asking how to fix this common thing in CADD drafting.

To Typhoon: I can't post... I only have 30 days trial and deleted it in my frustration. I did it in sketchup though, it is much faster, then import it into Autocad Archi desktop. My CPU in Revit do slow down when details and sheets are set. Easy to make sheets but limited in sections and elevations. Every time I add tags that I missed I need to go back on each sheets to fix. I have a plan that has three wings of wall with different angles. Six axis to be exact and can't make a partial true elevation or a pivoted section to be parallel with the other four axis. Hope revit fix those problems. I have no time to study how to customize the tags and arrows and titles. Revit is a good tool for Architects to give free service to their GC or CM for their quantity takeoffs. If you want to recreate the Revit curtain wall system problem I have; just make a highrise pointed pyramid mass then chop close to base a slanted face to form the roof, delete the top portion, then make four curtain wall system on four sides. Post it if the grids are perpendicular and parallel to each other. don't mind the corners or edges, those panes should be triangular or trapezoidal. If it does what i'm describing here then that should be the right way to build a curtain wall as an irregular leaning trapezoidal shaped curtain wall seen in elevation. BUT Revit's default creates radial rails and mullions (just like the one shown above this forum). The shed or slanted roof is sloping at the diagonal. If It is not diagonal but slants parallel on front and back, sides can be fixed by using the curtainwall edit angle/rotation adjustments under the its parameter. Hope this makes my problem with revit clear. Thanks
