first, i would suggest you communicate what the problem is exactly.second-- state which version of Revit you use.i think you are talking about "why is there a family" in my "_______"you need to check your host for the family, and re-host the family object (skylight) to a level specific host, such as a roof level, instead of using a generic or general host, such as concrete 8" slab. let me know if this works, and if this was even your problem... I once had a bar on every generic 8" slab i added, too!!! !!! wrong host!!!good luck!

The majority of all sky-lights I have seen are roof based. Getting it to change to a different type you would have to copy and paste into a different family type. I would recomend Face Based if you are trying to get it to attach to a different element other than a roof. This should also solve your issue of the loading. If it doesnt, just place the skylight where you can, and rehost it like charlotte suggested.

Have you tried grouping the one item and moving it? I have some floor-hosted families that operate independent of their host once they have been grouped. Wall-hosted families don't seem to do this though, so a roof-hosted may or may not work. Anyone know why my floor hosted-family does this? Details: AR08, Floor-hosted chair so that they move up and down with the sloped floor automatically. If I group any of them (or a single one) they can be moved away from the floor and the floor can be moved out from under them while all instances not in a group move with the floor/host. Sorry for the tangent-topic.
