I created a generic wall based model family and everything is working as I wanted except for the fact that the surface pattern that I have applied to the family is not appearing when I load it into my model.  If I open the family back up for editing, the surface pattern shows up.  It just isn't appearing right in the model.

My view is set to Shading With Edges and the surface patterns for everything else are showing up in the model.

 Any help?

My guess is the material in the project doesn't have the surf. pattern on it. How did you assign the material? By category, then check the category to make sure its assigned, by sub category, check the subcategory, by material, check the material(in the project)

Revit doesn't overwrite project materials with family materials so you have to assign the material in the project not the family.  ie if you modified a stock material in the family editor then load the family into the project the project material will display not the modified family material.

That didn't directly solve my problem, but it led me to the area that did solve the problem.  I realized that I had applied the wrong pattern. Most of my frustrations stem from problems that exist between the seatback and the keyboard.  Thanks!
