is there anyway to make a mullion be a void in the wall to make a reveal? or do you have to always use a sweep to make reveals?

I am trying to do the same thing. I noticed in "Mastering Revit 2008' a complex curtain wall Fig 11.22 that has no mullion, also the panels are rounded. I looked for the supporting information off the web site but nothing there. My current work around is the make a mullion with the correct dimensions and then hide it in the various views, possibly controll visibility via worksets. not ideal there must be a better way)

Hi, I don't have "Mastering Revit 2008" only 2009 so I can't see the image but i think thoset panels are made by a "Curtain wall" family with that shape but if you could post here that image of the book i could give other opinion...

I think the image is in 2009 as well it looks a little like dominos in a two stack curve. The panels are not the interesting thing it’s the lack of mullions in the curtain wall, as though there is an "empty mullion" that functions like the "empty panel" is there such an animal? or is there another method

OK I am always amazed how simple things are in Revit. I made a panel from the family template for curtain panels and fixed the edge 1/2 my desired reveal edge distance and viola a curtain wall with no mullions! I am using this to build a "rain screen" wall system that has conceiled attachments with pane;s that appear to float away from the backing wall.

this idea works as long as your curtain panel shapes are not irregular and don't give you the "can't make curtain wall panel" error, and then it replaces the panel with a "system panel" that CAN be irregular but won't have the reveals. unfortunately you can't do this reveal technique to the system panel. The alternate solution with creating a mullion the size of the reveal and then hiding them would allow you to do the irregular panels. also, the better way to make sure all the right views hide the mullions, is to create a view template and apply it to all the views you need them hidden. it's a rather underused feature in revit, i think.
