peoples.... I am trying to create an external venetial blind family with the ability to have some instances with the blind up, halfway and fully down. I know there is a way with formulas and arrayed nested objects, but i just cant seem to get it to work. Any help would be grand. The whole elevation doesn't really work without having the random look of the blinds up or down. thanks

Hmm, well for starters i hope your project isn't too big as lots of arrays really bog the file down... For items like this i'd probably have them on for rendering and then remove them afterwards. Referring back to my array tutorial: Always constrain the two defining elements of the array in all 3 directions. Also, don't forget to set the bottom reference plane to bottom reference... In your case I would use array to last and constrain the first and last elements. I would then add a parameter between the first and last element reference planes so you can control how far drawn the blinds are. You should also add a formula to calculate how many blades are needed depending on the drop. HTH.
