I created a topo and basic shell of a house with North being up. The house is rotated about 40 degrees from north, so all my plans show up rotated. I rotated the elevation tags so that I would get true elevation views, but I have not had any success figuring out how to view my plans according to "project" north. It seems that all the help files talk about changing a project from project north to true north but not vise versa. How can I get my plans & views on a sheet are rotated without rotating the entire model?

In revit: 1. Always model the building in the orientation as you want to document it. Don't worry about where north is as that can be set later "very easily". You have two options, if your model isn't too detailed you may be able to rotate the building to the correct orientation. If you receive to many errors attempting that and you don't want to rotate your building. You will then have to manually rotate each of the plan views. This can be done by turning on the crop region and rotating that. Note the crop region will not rotate, the view will actually rotate when you do this. HTH.

Thanks for your answer Mr. Spot, that may work for my current project; however, for future projects: if you are supposed to model your building in the orientation you want to document it, then how can you start with a site plan (where you enter the calls out and which automatically orients your site to true north) and then begin to create building studies when you are not sure what the best final orientation is going to be?

This is precisely the reason why its generally a good idea to model the site in a separate file and then link the buildings together. However, you can also rotate your site instead of rotating the building. Also, when you are at the stage where you are still working out how the building is to be orientated, then generally your model is fairly simplistic or just massing which is much easier to rotate...
