hello,

 i m learning revit right now and i m trying to create curved beam with desire curve  but i cant do it... i been through the forum but my knowledge about revit is limited could anyone help with step by step..... last thing whats in-place family and how is it different from family in revit and hows to create in-place family..... please help me guys.... many thanxs

Im sure that in 2008 there is an easier way from what I have hurd, but for Revit 9.1 what I would to is create a componante in place.  So by going to Componant, then at the top click on "create in place".  Select the type of family, so for you I would think it would be structural beams or something of the sort.  Now you can go to the solid form on the left and click "Solid Sweep" .  Now at the top you see "By Sketch" next to it is Load Profiles, so load the profile of the beam that you want from the "Profiles" folder.  So you can load what ever wide flange or hss that you need.  Once loaded select it from the drop down where it says "<By Sketch>" and then using the "Sketch 2D Path" sketch the curve that you want.
