Here's a little thing I noticed and thought I'd pcursealong.
The time to render seems to decrease(sometimes dramatically) as veiws are removed from the project, primarily 3d views, captured renders, and sheets that have captured renders (not imported jpegs). I'm not too sure on the specifics of why, but here on my computer, doing this has worked consistantly for several different projects.
So give it a try (but make sure to back up your file before you go deleting all your work....trust me on that one), and let me know if it works for you.
