hi I'm working at a project involving a complex steel structure roof.I need to create a mass using a spline profile and also a circular section. I wanted to do that using the solid sweep command but apparently I can't have both a curved path and circular section. The compromise was to use a curved path and for the section to use a polygon having as many sides as possible . I don-t really like that though....because if I look at the structure closer i can see the edges. If anyone has any ideea about how cand i do this please help me

Can you post an image of what you are after? Remember that creating masses is not only an additive but also a subtractive process. Starting with a positive mass and subracting from it with voids is the best way to create complex shapes.

I concidered using the void command...but i think it's even more difficult to do that.the most convenient way would be to create a sweep with a curved profile and a circular section.looking forward for suggestions or advices. the photo I've attached is of a structure (the international airport in osaka ) I've found over the internet but I think it gives a good example for the kind of structure I'm trying to create.

You can do a circular sweep on a curved path, not sure about splines though. A trick I learned from James V. at SOM they used on the Freedom Tower was to apply sweeps to edges of a void. I've attached a quick example of this method for you to reverse engineer. The voids can be parametric as well giving you real power to possibly build what you are attempting.

unfortunately I wasn't able to open the file as I am working in an older version of revit. I've attached a photo with what I've come with so far.As I will surely have to make many changes on the project I'll try to take your advice. The mass created so far was through sweep with curved path and polygon/circle profile . Thanx so much for advices
