I am trying to place some swing tie dimensions on a site plan. I cannot figure out how to get a dimension from 1 point to another when the points are not aligned or parralel. How can I dimension 2 random points? Thanks

In real life, two lines tahat are not parallel can not be dimensioned because the dimension changes with where you are measuring from.... so we can never really do that. Instead, we pick a line (plane) at a defined point that intersects both lines and dimension from those intersections. In REVIT, you can mark those intersections with small parallel lines. Remember that when you dimension like this, you still need a corresponding dimension perpendicular to your dimension string that shows where your reference plane is. Otherwise, you dimension is meaningless.

You can dimension from any two randow points providing you are actually picking "points" and not faces. Use your tab key until you pick the point.
