I had just used Revit 9.1 to created some 3D views for a schematic design of an interior space and they looked great when plotted in grey scales with all elements rendered in different shades of greys. Recently we upgraded the Revit to 2008 and when I open the same views, some walls look and print in solid black color, even in hidden line views. I check the view property settings and there's nothing there that can change those black walls. Can anyone help ? Thanks !!

Three questions: 1) Do the walls contain any glass? 2) Are the wall surface patterns turned on? 3) Was the wall using a custom material that may be in a library that revit was not reconnected to when you upgraded? I had this same problem with some floors when I upgraded to RA2008 and it was because the floor surface patterns were turned back on during the File Format upgrade \/ \/

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |

Thanks for responding, Carl ! The walls in question are just drywall (w/GWB) and they look fine in other 3D views in shades of grey ( see attached jpg.) I suspect it maybe some contrasting setting in the views that need to be adjusted to show all white walls in shades of greys instead of greys and blacks and whites... just can't figure out yet (

It really looks like you have a missing texture file somewhere. The only time I've seen a wall turn from gray to black in the middle of run like that is when the wall was split and part of the split was changed to a different texture using the paint bucket tool (doing this you won't be able to tell what material is actually on the wall since it still reports the material that is in the wall assembly). So try using the paint bucket o change the material and see if it's an object problem or a material problem. Let us know what you find out.

and I see what you're saying, it appears to turn black after a certain distance away from the camera. Is there a far clip setting that's screwed up somewhere by chance?
