Has anyone attempted to create keyplans in Revit 2008 using dependent views? I came up with the idea this afternoon, just seeing if anyone else has thought of it, or attempted it yet.

Since key plans will need to be placed on multiple sheets I don't think dependent views aren't going to help. Each dependent view can only be placed on one sheet. I guess you could create multiple dependent views, one for each sheet, but that seems like overkill to me. You could look at creating a Legend view for key plans as they can be placed on more than one sheet. I found other comments related to key plans in thread below. Yah, I've read that thread before, and the downside to all of their ideas is that the key plans are not parametric. Do you really think multiple dependant views are overkill if it actually enables you to have real parametric keyplans on your sheets? I'm conservative when it comes to having mulitiple views or elements in projects, but honestly how many sheets on an average project would need key plans, 5 to 10 at the most? Depending on how much memory that it would add to a project, I think it could work quite nicely. What does everyone else think? Anyone try it yet?

we created a keyplan using a generic annotation/ symbol. ( revit 2009 ) we placed all the information inside the family types of the symbol and created yes/no parameters to turn off what you did and did not want to see. although this works once it is in the sheets...it proved to be daunting to get all the parts correct. I am trying to refine the process and get a generic model loaded for people to use. hopefully in a few days from this post i can get something up for people to use. hope this at least steers you in the right direction
