Here is the problem when we schedule doors we schedule width and height of the door leaf. So the issue comes when scheduling a double door. Before we would schedule them as (2) 2'-6". Is there a way to get a prefix to show up before a parameter. The other possibility would be to make it a parameter that is not connected to the width and then we can type what ever we want in, but that is not a good idea. Or we add another column in our schedule and another parameter that is the number of leafs per door but again not a great idea and the standards people at our firm would hate that but I feel that is the best solution if there is no way to add a prefix to a parameter. Thanks for the help

I do the 'number of leafs' method as a shared parameter that is typed to the door family. At least then it is reasonably certain that it will be correct everywhere or at least easy to fix. I also create a 'door panel width' parameter' that is shared and typed to the door family. In the family I then add a formula to the standard 'width' parameter that is [Door Leaf Number * Door Panel Width] All works fine as long as the multiple leaf doors all have the same width. I haven't decided how to handle the unequal leaf situation yet. So far that situation hasn't come up but it is bound to soon.

Then do you schedule 'number of leafs'? My doors are set up fine, it is the scheduling aspect that is the problem. I want it to say (2) 2'-6" in the schedule under width.

Yes, I have a 'number of leafs' column. You can't get it to format (2) only a simple number 2 nor can you get the 'x'. Text concantonation is not possible in Revit. You have to live with what is possible and submit a support request to Autodesk for more advanced database/scheduling features. Autodesk claims that they think they are doing a good job with schedules and see no reason to improve them as they don't hear that many complaints from their users via the offical support channel. Forums like this one and over at AUGI are not good enough to let Autodesk hear from their users.

Yes...the tough part of implementing Revit is not the software, but the people. Changing from a focus on the printed page 'looking' correct to CAD standards of 20 years ago to 'being' correct in Revit requires an attitude adjustment. An amazing number of otherwise intelligent people can't get past this issue wih Revit. I know for a fact that the contracting world couldn't care less about how the palns and schedules 'look'. They simply want correct information that is in a format that they can use. The contractors here in the Twin Cities have or are starting their own BIM departments and are taking architects 2D documents and modeling them in Revit prior to starting construction. The contracting world is tired of waiting for architects to get with it and are working to make architects even more of a 'commodity'. Perhaps the 'Revit haters' in this world will figure this out someday when they are out of business standing in the unemployment line.

The way I did was labelling a pair of door on door schedule as " PR. 3'-0"/2'-0" x 7'-0" " for an un-equal leaf door with 3'-0"x7'-0" active leaf, 2'-0"x7'-0" the other. You may download "Adjustable Hollow Metal Door for CMU Wall-Revised" under 08-Openings, 08 10 00-Doors & Frames. All information shown on my door schedule are parametric. That family has customized door schedule, with parameters such as size of leafs, swing angles, three lites configurations and flush one, glass labels for interior doors or exterior door, and adjustable frame depth/ frame setback. You can follow the directions, to see if that works for you.
