Hopefully this is a dumb question. The view scale that is in the bottom left corner of a view has the ability to change the scale. But it does not have 1”=100’-0”, it has a bunch of other less (if ever) used scales such as 1”=80’-0” and 1”=160’-0”. How can we add 1”=100’-0” to this list. And more importantly if you input 1:1200 in the custom scale to get 1"=100'-0" it displays 1:1200 on a sheet vs. 1”=100’-0”. How can we overide 1:1200 to display 1"=100'-0" on a sheet? If it is not a dumb question, why didn't the designers of the program pick up an engineering scale and look at the available units on the scale and provied them as an option?

For starters I use metric so i'm not really sure what the standards scales for imperial are. In short you cannot add new scales to the list. You can create custom scales of whatever you like however but just clicking on custom. As for the scale on the sheet, its sounds like your titleblock has been setup not to use the project standard and has been overridden to use a metric scale. Edit the titleblock, select the scale and choose format. Select Use Project settings. HTH.

No my titleblock is not set to metric, when you click custom it only allows you to scale by a ratio, thus 1"=100'-0" is = to 1:1200. You can not type in 1:100'-0" it will not allow that. Prior to changing the scale the scale to 1:1200 it was 1"=60'-0", once it is changed to 1:1200 it changes the scale on the title block to 1:1200. It previously displayed 1"=60'-0". The only way we can correct this is to place text on top of the scale in the titleblock and type in 1"=100'-0", which is silly and is prone to errors. The ability to add a custom scale is a basic, and I emphasize BASIC function that needs to be in Revit. If all of this is true, Autodesk should be embarassed, and most importantly, fix the problem immediatly.

Surprising its not asked for very often... I might add that the number of built in imperial scales is 26!! As opposed to 11 metric scales. All i can suggest is to send a SR to Autodesk.
