I have an L shaped second storey that penetrates a lower roof. the lower roof dies into the second storey wall in the longer leg of the L and slopes downward toward the shorter leg of the L.....therefore I'll need a cricket in that corner. I've tried building a small square patch of sloping roof and joining it....I've tried splitting the geometry of the roof and using slope arrows (like on a dormer or other protruding gable) and nothing seems to work. Am I doomed to have water pool in that corner? Or is there something I'm missing? SAM

Most times it's easier to post a screenshot of your situation. You can create a simple roof with one line denoting the slope (if it's just a shed type roof)and extend the boundary lines far enough that it penetrates the roof you want. When you join geometry the valley lines will show up, then you can edit your oversized cricket back to your valley lines.

OK, thanks! I've tried this before and it didn't work but I was always worried about the excess roof and maybe trying to edit the cricket size AFTER is the difference. But now if I try to edit the cricket I will end up deleting the line that defines slope...its the one that is mostly under the main roof. I thought if I joined the geometries it would trim all the excess off....and trim doesn't work either. I'm not sure whether to just let it hang underneath the main roof and work around it in section or if there is actually a way to trim the excess roofage. I've attached a snapshot of the area (hopefully you can see it). Any ideas? Thanks again, SAM

Try using opening under the modeling tab instead of editing the lines then. A dialog box will come up and you should "pick a roof, floor, or ceiling and cut vertically" You could also try out using a slope arrow, but I find that tougher to work with.
