Hey folks: Trying to turn off wall base sweeps in plan so that I don't accidently measure or link from the base instead of the wall. Any suggestions? Also, I want to create walls that have studs that go to the underside of the floor above (~ 14'-0" but the gyp. board only extends 6" above the ceiling (8'-0" , I did this by adding a reveal that is 8'-6" above the floor. The problem is that whenever there is an opening in the wall the reveal also bumps up, meaning that it is 8'-6" above the top of the opening. Does anyone have suggestions on this? Thanks again! This site has been very helpful!

How have you created your wall sweeps? Are they done using the host sweep tool or are they integral wall sweeps (built into the wall properties). If they are normal wall sweeps you can turn them off by select the wall sweep, going to its properties and giving it a subcategory. Then simply turn off that subcategory of walls in the view. If its integral then unforunately there isn't an easy way about it... For the second issue the solution would be to leave the wall going to ground level and then insert a wall opening to make the opening (I actually use a generic model family opening as it is more flexible). HTH.

Mr Spot: Thanks again for your help! unfortunately the sweeps are integral, so it sound like doing this would be difficult, is tha right? btw, any suggestions for creating column wraps? whenever I have a column wrap meet a wall the base sweep gets all kaflooie! I did an edit wall joins command and that seemed to help a little!

As these sweeps aren't given a subcategory they are controlled by the actual wall category visibility setting. The only solution really is the linework tool and invisiblising (is that a word??) the edges of the sweep that you don't want to see but that is very time consuming and would need to be done in all plans. A screenshot would help describe your column wrap issue - sorry kaflooie doesn't really tell me what its doing

Ahh that's much clearer and easily fixed. Switch to wireframe, and use your tab key to select the end shape handle of the sweep. Then simply move it back to where you want it to stop. HTH.

is there a way to do this globally? i have about 50 of these! including some that are in the middle of walls (see the screen shot) i suppose that i could split the sweep and trim to the wall face. is there a quicker way?

I assume the column wrap is walls? If this is the case just split the main wall at each column and the sweeps should cleanup themselves. HTH.
