The two gables in the attached image are identical instances of the same wall. At one time, both gable stack walls were attached to the same roof. Now, only the one on the right still is. The one on the left "went nuts" and suddenly all three walls in the stack wall became attached to the roof. The only way to fix it was to detach the walls. Now, I get the error message about sweep unable to be created and nothing happens when I try to attach, nothing happens when I try to edit the profile, I seem to be unable to recreate the gable wall that was there for a long time until it went nuts. Meanwhile, the same wall is just fine for now next door attached to the same roof. Why can't Revit get stack walls to behave!!!!!!

Personally, I never use attach walls to roof command. I always edit the profile. If the roof line changes, then I re-edit the wall. You may have it already part of your daily "must do's" have you tried to just use edit profile to see if your models behave better? I know this really isn't an answer to your problem. I don't know why you're having problems with them. I remember you had a similar instance not too long ago. You might want to send a ticket off to ADesk to see if they will help you any better.

The work-around before was to split the gable wall into two walls and that did solve the inability of the stack wall to miter at all corners correctly. That hasn't solved this problem. THEN, there was the problem with a sweep that I created "above" the insertion point in the sweep profile family. It would appear in the air above the "attached" and the "edited wall profile" wall. ADesk support recommended that the sweep be changed to lay on the insertion point of the profile, then it behaved and was trimmable by the wall profile or attachment. Now, stack walls that were attached fine for weeks and weeks suddenly go nuts while exactly the same wall in the same situation behaves nicely in the wing next door. ADesk Support just admitted that they don't know why stack walls are so wierd but they were working on it. Sometime, the worldwide Revit community comes up with work-arounds before ADesk learns them and I just hoped for some help.
