Have you done the tutorials that come with Revit? They are really good. Also be sure to check out www.dgcad.com they have some great video tutorials and the beginning ones are free.

I would also like to know about any tutors in this area. I live nearby in Grass Valley, CA. At this time I am probably the only Revit user in this county. Planning to move to Reno area in spring to search for Revit jobs. Is there a AUGI chapter near by?

I'm actually starting to tutor people in Revit Architecture now. So if and when you do make the move to Reno, NV contact me by e-mail and then we can figure something out. Let me know if that sounds good to you. Licatadrrhs@yahoo.com -Dom

Hi Dom, Any ideas of how many and/or which firms are using Revit Arch. in the Reno area? I plan to knock on doors soon and could use some suggestions on potential firms. Thanks

I'm surprised that I hadn't seen this thread before. I know that a couple of individuals in Reno have been using Revit some for several years. At BJG, we've used Revit for literally hundreds of projects, and several firms are beginning to use it some. The Northern Nevada CAD Association (groups.yahoo.com/group/nnca/) is discussing Revit at almost every meeting now. Also, I'm teaching a 3-credit Revit class at TMCC this Fall semester. It isn't listed to leave space for professionals who are asking for it. Email me for info: jstamps@bjginc.com Edited on: Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 11:56:58 PM

My Dad told me that they have been trying to get a class together for a while now. Is the class going to be a more basic class? I'm now interested in the more complicated functions of Revit. I feel like I have the basics down. I've worked on and finished out 3 or 4 projects over the past year with just Revit, so I feel like I'm starting to get it down pretty well but there is still so much to learn.

Our sister office is Reno Revit Users. Isn't there an AUGI camp coming up there soon? I'd like to pick up a teaching gig here in Vegas. Maybe at UNLV or something.

" I haven't heard anything about an AUGI camp coming to Reno but that doesn't mean that one isn't coming here... I'm out of the loop. Yeah, I could see myself teaching but that'll prob. be down the road at some point.

Yeah, this semester's class is really basic. I'm interested in also teaching an advanced class next semester. Is Ric your dad? Let him know that we should get it arranged. It probably belongs in the Architecture department, but they weren't getting it done, so its being held by the drafting department this semester.

" "...Isn't there an AUGI camp coming up there soon?..." I haven't heard anything about an AUGI camp coming to Reno but that doesn't mean that one isn't coming here..." Yeah! Reno AUGI CAD Camp October 7th: http://www.augievents.com/Reno/tabid/382/language/en-US/Default.aspx It doesn't show it on the website, but if you register this week (by Sep 19), you get a 50% discount if you use the code “2for1reno” at the end of the registration. There is also a student rate, if you can use it, and you can knock 50% off of that, too.
