Please help.  Revit is tagging my existing doors and they're showing up on my door schedule.  I have deleted them and made sure that tag on placement is off when I reinsert them, but when I make a schedule they show up.  They are set to existing and my schedule is set to new construction.  Any ideas?

Whether an item is tagged or not does not influence in any way what shows up in a schedule. Tags are mearly little mini database reports that are in a view.

Setting your doors to being created in phase 'existing' and demolished in phase 'none' is the first step.

Mearly basing your schedule to be set to 'new construction' will simply show all elements in the database up to that point in time. If you want to show just the elements created in a particular phase, then you need to add a filter to the schedule that gives you what you want. In your case you are looking for Phase = New Constuction.  See the 'filter' tab in the schedule properties.  In order to filter by objects in the database, the field you want to filter on must be included in the scedule. You can make it a hidden field if you don't want it to print.

There is no field for phase, which is what I want to filter by.

Sorry...it is in the properties of the door schedule.  Be sure to set the phase filter to 'show new only'
