I have a roof I'm putting on a building that won't cooperate. I an trying to place a gable above a door and window, but no matter what I do, the main roof keeps running through the front of it. Please help!!!

what you need to do is go into the main roof and cut the overhang back to how ever long you want the domer to span.(make a gap over the door that wide.) Then draw a line from the end of the existing line to the halfway point of the span. pick the sloped arrow command and start at the point away from the center then draw to where the point of the domer will be. right click and go to properties and set the properties accordingly. After you have it set up the way you want it mirror the line under the arrow and the arrow to create the other side. the arrows should create a x because their points will touch. hit finished and you should have what your looking for. I would post some pictures on how to do it but maybe you can help me and tell me how to save images out of revit and post them on revitcity. I hope the above worked without complicating things to much.

Thank you so much, it worked exectly like you said it would. Would you by chance know how to put mech. dormers into the roof too? they will be going up in the middle of the slope.

If you're talking about an operable skylight, they have some here in the download section. Dormers I think of like New England capes. Those you just have to draw walls and place roofs on them.

i agree then you just use the opening tool to cut a hole in the main roof after you create the dormer roof and dormer walls.
