Does anyone know the process of using revits scheduling tools to calculate approximate seating by defining seating area with room separation lines? I know revit has this capability, I have some text on this (see attached), but it is quite vague. The text mentions shared parameters and calculated values but I dont know how to set these up to do what I want. This would save a ton of time by being able to approximate seating based on area rather than having to place actual geometry and counting. If the attachment is not clear enough to read, it shows using a schedule with columns: Seating area, Area per Seat, and Proposed Seating which is automatically calculated from the previous two columns. If anyone knows how to do this it would be a huge help.

I looks like what you want is to be able to define an area and then devide it by some standard number like 4.5 and get a total. If so, set up a Room Schedule that lists the rooms or areas you want defined. Edit the schedule and click on Fields. In the new box click on Calculated Value and define a new value called Seats per Area(see image), make the Type, Area, and define the formula as Area/(what ever you want).

Look at the Calculated Value in the Room Schedule. You can add a Parameter that will Divide the "Area" by whatever you want. See attached

If I want a field that is just constant...not affected by editing the room area, for instance, just saying that the area that one seat takes = 4.5sf. what is the best way to do that

Sorry, I just want a column labeled Area Per Seat that has a fixed number. I figured it out though. I just added a parameter. Thanks for your help.
