I have the following condition at a pilaster, and I can not get revit to work correctly. I got this to work with a column placed at the face of the brick wall, but when i try to place a wall sweep for the fascia metal, i cant get this to return around the column correctly, so i was wondering if there was any way to do this as a wall. I have tried using just a single wythe of masonary, and then a 6 inch stud behind and the normal wall on each side, but there has to be a better way of doing it than having to build 3 different walls to get this to work. Any suggestions? Please see attached.

well, if you are looking for an easier way to make the sweep work for you, you can use model lines to select for your sweep. I use this when I'm in a bind for fascia when I can't get it to work the way I want it to. What I do before I make the model line is create and name a reference plane in elevation view. then you go to your plan view and create model lines along a path you want your sweep to follow. before you make your first line, on the drop down menu, select your reference plane that you just made. then all you have to do from there is either draw the line path or what I prefer to do is use the pick tool. after you create your model lines, then you can use them in 3d to select for your sweep. It's a little work but it's pretty much a failsafe way to do it.

Framer, I am a newer user, and that doesnt exactly make sense to me. Can you explain a little more and give me some specifics, or send me a simple file showing it so i can get in and look at it? Thanks, John

you want to create a sweep that follows around the pilaster. an easy way to do this is to create the pathway for your sweep by using a line rather than trying to select something that is being difficult to accept what you want. the line needs the height information, which would be your height of your fascia metal, so when you draw your line path in plan view, you tell it to draw at the reference plane level. after you have drawn your line, you can create a sweep that uses the lines. to create the sweep, you go to your modeling tab and select "create>generic model" or a little easier than that would be to use "host sweep>roof fascia" under the modeling tab
