You may need to explain a bit more in depth. What areas? Like room areas or areas that you define on an area plan? Can you make a screen shot and post in for us to see what's going on? Thanks and good luck!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |

It is not that the color fill is covering your furniture, it is that your furniture is not covering your colorfill. Many of the furniture in the standard Revit library is created with symbolic lines for plan representation with the 3D object turned off in plan view. Generally showing the 3D in plan view is a bad idea as there is too much information there for most tastes. You could edit each family and change the visisbility settings of the 3D object to appear in plan view. You could also refine those settings so the 3D shows in medium or fine resolution and set your colorfill plan to medium or fine resolution. This method would ensure that the course resolution view is preserved as symbolic lines which work best for 2D documentation printing.

To clarify further: There is a floor plan in which everything displays fine in the floor plan view, but in the area plan view (the view where the areas are defined and color filled based on name) some of the areas that are color filled do not display correctly. In particular some of the color filled areas appear to have the color fill in front of the walls, furniture, and doors so that all you see is a block of color. None of the objects are turned off, and when you pan through the drawing the objects appear but when I stop then are covered again. there is a nearly idendtical plan in the same file that displays fine, odd. attached are both the typical plan view and the colored area plan that does not display correctly.
