I am trying to make a curved ramp that slopes up. I am working on a multi-level car park. Any advice? Thanks, James

Now I can make a curved ramp, but it will not slope...I'm stumped.

How did you do it? I have an entry driveway to a large project that rises 12' and curves 90 degrees. The drive should also have a counter-slope of 1/4" per foot for drainage. I have tried using the massing functions and feel i am getting close, but if anyone has had a similar issue that would be great.

I used the ramp tool combined with the geometry I learned eons ago in high school and was able to get the right slope with the curve. Then I realized that I couldn't attach walls to ramps, nor will ramps host things so I redesigned and took out the curve. I have not tried massing yet, but if you need a counter slope that might be the way to go. The ramp tool seems quite complicated, but with some persistance and the help files I managed to figure it out, which means any average intelligence person should be able to do it in 2/3 the time it took me. Hope that helps...best of luck.

Try making the ramp from a floor and use the slope arrow to make it rise.

A sloping floor won't work because you can't define the slope to follow the curve, the slope arrow works only in a straight line. Even if you only define the grade using a slope arrow, you will find that one end of the won't be co-planar with the level you are connecting to. (refer attached images) These are from current project, and this is bugging me. Is massing the best option??? ---------------------- Dale Melbourne, Australia

Create the flat section as a floor with a fall arrow. You need to create the curve separately as a ramp: Draw a 2d line drawing to work out how long you need the ramp to be to achieve the required fall. ie: for a 1:5 ramp and you need to drop 1 meter, the length should be 5m. Curved ramps have different grades on the inner and outer curve. The outside curve will be a shallower gradient. The length you have calculated should be the length of the inner curve, the maximium gradient. Use the ramp tool to draw a ramp with a 5m inside curve and define the base level and the top level. That's it. If the material of the floor and the ramp are the same you can join them. HTH - post if you need more advice, they can be tricky

To the OP, this should work for you too???

OK, so i have manged to get this to work - however - when i try to select the sloping floor to connect to the curved ramp, the ramp isn't selectable geometry...???

I might try to use the massing tool and then apply a roof by-face that replicated the floor type i need. That way i can attach walls to the element. I think this is the quickest way to get a coplex shape and i have had experience doing this. I give the referenced option above a try as well. Thanks
