HI. Is there a way to remove (void) material from a loaded family using in-place techniques. I have included a picture: I want to cut away material from the supports so that they blend perfectly with the canopy. I tried creating an in-place void (as in picture) and then joining this to the support. The logic being, that adding a negative body to a positive body would perform the required operation. It didn't. Thanks. Post edited on 2004-12-01 05:33:43 Post edited on 2004-12-01 05:34:13

Okay an in-place family will not cut an external family... Basically the geometry in a loaded family is locked and cannot be cut or joined to... With exception of attaching walls to external floor & roof families. If you need to cut the geometry out of the external family the only method would be to create the void in the external family or vice versa and create the external family as an in-place family... Remember you can cut and paste directly from an in-place family to an exterior family...
