hi,

i'm using revit 9.1 for a biotech campus (7 acre site) on a countoured site. we've got 5 buildings on one combined podium / basement. the site is contoured and i'm having trouble with :

1. exporting to autocad : the cad drawing shows site / topography lines which are actually switched off in visiblity of the exported view.

2. the buildings are modelled as masses, and when i export the roof plan to autocad, they export as wireframe. they lose alot of formatting of linework and need to be almost redrawn in cad. at floor levels where the mass is cut, it behaves ok, but viewing the mass from above, revit suddenly doesnt read it as an opaque mass. i have checked all setting of the mass and view and even contacted my autodesk centre. they told me to create roofs for the geometry to read in the roof plan. but that'll be a hassle. the crazy thing is that when i try to print with vector processing it shows me all this extra stuff i dont wanna see, but when i print with raster processing, it prints correctly. but to get a good quality raster print takes forever.

4. We have remodelled the contours and i am able to show the demolished contour line alongwith my new section, however the demolished topo is an opaque mass in section (hidden line view) and it hides all my new construction in areas of 'cut'. i cant make it wireframe to keep it readable and i cannot create exact detail lines matching this contour line coz it doesnt read the topo geometry.( i'm hoping i dont have to make an apporixmate imitation line.)

5. i wish revit would create sloping pads for basement ramps and treat topography / subregions as solid geometry.

6. I have a HP deskejt 1180 printer which prints a dashes line thru the top/ centre/ bottom of the plot when i print directly from revit... everytime !! no such prob with PDF or cad.

thankx...

nidhi

i saw the thread :

Fri, Aug 19, 2005/ Re : Mass plotting transparent

and tried it out... dint work for me. it caused approx half the drawing to behave ok, but half the drawing is still 'mis'-behaving !
