hope someone can help with this one! i recently installed an additional 22" screen on my laptop, with dual screens running. worked great, no problems. was using 8.1, it went fine. put on 9.1 finally, it worked fine too. but today, suddenly, the options bar is acting very weird. select anything and the options bar goes from single line to 3 or 4 lines, and the model element selected shifts a bit. i could handle the former, but not the latter. when i move revit back onto the laptop screen, it fixes itself. has anyone seen this before and is there a way to fix it please? thanks in advance, peter

Are you sure that it isn't just a graphics driver issue?? Have you tried getting the latest drivers for you graphics ?

thanks elmo for the sensible suggestion. i have looked and it appears i have the latest driver, as the laptop is less than 12 months old. but . . . i asked our autodesk reseller here in australia for similar advice and thought i should tell others. just in case your graphics driver allows it. - - - This problem is caused by the attached screen being the secondary display. In the display properties control panel > settings tab, select the second screen and tick the option to make it the primary display. You may need to adjust resolutions to suit on each screen. Do this by selecting each screen in the display properties and adjusting the resolution slider. Once the attached screen is set as the primary display Revit will behave itself. The Primary display can often be set by pressing the Advanced button in the Settings tab, and there may be a tab called "Displays" (depends on the video card) which will allow you to swap the primary and secondary display devices. On my laptop with ATi Radeon graphics I can do this. However, it does depend on the actual graphics hardware.Regards,KAREL*CAD SUPPORTDavid Wills

hi all in case others have this trouble, ie graphics driver does not allow the second screen to be 'primary display'. i think i have discovered what causes the glich. when setting up the two screens in settings, make sure both screens have the tops aligned!

I had the same problem on my computer. Here is another tip that may help: 1. Click on the Revit Tab (Purple R) 2. Select "Options" 3. Click on the "Graphics" tab 4. Check the box for "Use Hardware Acceleration" 5. Select Ok and restart Revit.
