We're relatively new to Revit and are working to set up our office standards. I've tried to find it, but haven't been successful, to date, to set the default wall constraints. Ideally, we'd like to be able to set the walls to default to certain constraints based on the wall type. Right now, it appears that we have to manually set it after placing the wall in the drawing. Is it possible to set the constraint as part of the wall style? If so, how? If not, it better be put on the wishlist.

Do you mean height constraints? Elaborate a little, there are moany different types of constraints. Thanks.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |

Not height constraints, but wall edge constraints. Or, in Revit terminology, the location line constraint. I've attached an image of the instance parameter. I'd like to set this permanently. I very much dislike the idea that I have to draw my walls with the centerline as the default.

When you select the wall tool, one of the options in the option bar is 'Loc Line:' Set this before you start drawing the wall, and remember that Revit draws in a clockwise manner. So if you have the Loc Line option set to Exterior Face of Wall then the exterior of the wall will be towards the top of your screen if you draw to the right, and towards the bottom of the screen if you draw the wall to the left. HTH.

1) So, the short answer is that it's not possible to set the wall location line contraint to default to particular setting, it must be done as you draw the wall. 2) I'm using a OSX skin on XP. http://osx.portraitofakite.com/ is where you can download it. I don't use the some of the eyecandy stuff, or the tool bars (I've had a few problems with them causing errors). I really dislike the 2nd grade cartoon interface of XP (and even the new Vista has it to some extent). OSX just feels better. I hate going to a windows machine that has the usual interface. It's not perfect, there are sometimes some font issues with some buttons, but overall, I like it much much better.

1) I haven't found a way to set the default. It would be nice though as it is annoying to go back and change all the intern's center of wall loc lines when they weren't paying attention to the correct setting. 2) Thanks, Awesome! I think I visited that site a while back but got distracted and never installed it.
