I have set up one drawing which is a different Phase - (Phase 2). For some reason, now, my building section marks and elevation marks do not appear in this Phase 2 view. Why is this and how do I remedy it? I have checked my visibility graphics and everything is turned on. Thanks.

Plans, Sections and Elevations are Phase specific.  A section cut in phase 1 will not show in phase 2 as presumably there is different building geometry in phase 2 than in phase 1. A phase 1 section cut would not show valid information in phase 2.

You can combine the building geometry of phase 2 with phase 1, but if you are truely trying to document the building contruction with phases this is not a valid appoach.

Perhaps I'm doing the wrong thing by creating a Phase to the project. Is there a better way of doing this? What I'm trying to show is a tenant fit-out of a space - dotted in to show future fit-out work that is not in the current contract.

Thanks for your response.

Revit can only display phases looking backward in time.  I.E. you can be in phase 2 looking back in time to phase 1, but not be in phase 1 looking forward to phase 2.

There are a couple of options:

1. If you want to 'model' the TI work with Revit geometry, then create it in phase 1 and then demolish it in phase 1 [Tip: use the sledge hammer icon or set the properties of the object in properties box] Revit will display objects created and demolished in the same phase as 'temporary' and assign the graphic over-ride of dashed to these objects.

2. You can simply use 'drafting' lines to show things like TI bathroom locations and such.  If you need to show this information accross multiple views, then 'group' the lines and copy/paste the group to the views required.

If you are doing a full fledged TI plan, then you have a couple of more options:

1. You could use design options.

2. You could use worksets

3. You could create a filter for TI objects.

4. Use the phases and accept Revit display options.

5. Link the Shell building into a TI project

I have a question about "best practices" in Revit. Our firm is new to this process. I'm curious how most people work with the Revit model in the detailing phase. I'm working on noting and detailing wall sections. Because it seems very difficult to get all of the model lines exactly correct, it seems that I end up tracing over every wall section and eventually turning the model view off. Is this how most people work on wall sections? It seems to open up the project to change-tracking errors later on. I would appreciate input about how other people do this.

Thanks.
