I've been using Revit for about 3 weeks and I'm having trouble with a window I created. I've made an arched window about 10' wide by 8' tall. It shows up in all views but there isn't a glass pane visible, it looks like a cut out in the wall. I've played around with adding parameters in the family editor by adding "materials and finishes", followed by the glass category. I would appreciate any help someone can provide.

Sounds like you may not have created the glass in your window. Open a working window family and study it. Look at the linework used in the family. You will find 2d symbollic lines for both cut & projection. Edit each extrusion and when you do that, look at the extrusion properties paying special attention to the material, subcategory and visibility settings.

Could your materials' transparency be set to 100? I'm not sure what you mean by it showing up in all views but it's not visible.

Hi, I'm fairly new to REVIT too and have the same problem with glazing not showing. The wierd thing for me is that I have some showing in a door I already made but when I went to add more glazing to it, I can't get it to show. I think everything is the same, cuts, extrusions, etc. I've tried to analyze it without success of finding a difference from my second from top and top panels. Perhaps Framerman can help me again as he did before? Here's the file.

You seem to have mutiple objects for the glass extrusions, some on top of eachother, some on top of other solid extrusions. One of the glass extrusions does not have any solid/void properties [not sure how you got there] I went to an elevation and turned on shading with edges to see things better. Try it and clean things up that are overlapping. You also may want to add reference planes as indicated to get the family to flex properly to other sizes. Also be aware that the 'glass' material has 90% transparency and is clear so tough to see it. Change the material 'glass' to something else that is more solid to troubleshoot inside your project. HTH

Thanks TomDorner, I finally got it working. It seems that I had to create a void extrusion where the glazing panel would be installed then create the glass panel in the same location, hence the overlapping. I thought that the "opening" tool in the design bar of the sketch mode would do the same thing. I'm still not sure what the difference REVIT assigns to the two. Anyway...the good thing is that I will make the deadline! Thanks again!
