Hey guys, we just got 9.1 at work and there seems to be something wrong with my Area tags... Story is: did area plans for my both of floor plans using 'rentable' and made a schedule. Good. The plan changed and the Garage moved to the upper level, so i drew the boundary and tried to bring the tag in - nothing. Bad. It doesnt say that my areas not enclosed or anything, the options toolbar is still saying what to do and my mouse looks like its about to place something but still nothing. Why wont it not let me add another tag? Also, another problem i encountered soon after: i need my roof area so i go to my area settings and create another type of area scheme - 'Roof Area'. Then used level 3 as my area plan, drew the boundary and once again - NOTHING! Ahhhh!!! lol. So you see, im quite stumped. It doesnt make sense that you'd need different types of area tags for all your different area plans. But it really doesnt make sense that it wont let me add another tag to an area plan that already has 3 of the same type of tag in it! I would really appreciate any info. Hopefully its just something simple and i can blame it on being blonde...

Areas and Rooms in 9.0/9.1 changed. Areas and Rooms are now actual objects rather than implied objects. In order to tag a room or area the object needs to exist first . On the Room and Area tab you need to place a room or area object. They can be tagged upon insertion just like doors, windows etc. or you can place and tag later. As for creating different area schemes for each level, taht is not how it is done in Revit. An area scheme can have multiple views each based on a level. While it is not effectively documented, the help file does have some basic information. HTH

Rooms and Areas changed to actual 3D objects to accomodate Revit Systems (MEP). Rooms now have a top limit and hence a volume which can be exported to MEP analysis software and then have that analysis brought back into Revit. Frankly from a pure architectural standpoint I liked it before the room and area objects showed up in 9.0.
