is this possible? TurboSquid.com has great stuff but not in .rvt. Is there a way to get a file from .dxf in CAD and then into Revit? Thanks very much.

Yes it is possible. See if this tutorial helps you out. http://www.revitcity.com/tutorials/how_to_grow_your_family/

Tom - we will assume that if the file is already in dwg or dxf and we don't have Max or Viz we can jump right to the CAD step. Also, my drafter trained on 2004 but we have 2007 inhouse. How does he turn on layers? It's not on him menu. Thank you.

I have not used AutoCAD in a long time either and have never used 2007. I still believe you can type in LA or -LA at the command prompt. And yes, if the file is already in DWG or DXF you can skip the Max/Viz step.
