hi there, i thought that i had better introduce myself seen as i have just started to learn revit and do plan on asking for information every now and then. the company i work for mainly specialise in tilt panel warehouseing and offices. i am just a junior draughty, but unfortunatly i am the only one. we have decided to upgrade to revit building 9.1 from autocad 2005LT and i have recently finished a 3 day training course on the program. i was pretty confident with my ability to work autocad and could knock out a set of plans pretty quickly but revit is a real change for me as i have never used any sort of 3d cad program before and to be honest i am finding it quite hard to come to grips with. what makes it harder is when the boss puts you under the guy straight away to start pumping out some nice renderings what do you recommend is the best way to learn this program. i have done the tutorials and stuff but havn't really come to terms with how to apply the things out of them onto what i am needing if that really makes any sense. if anyone else does the same sort of buildings to me i would be interested to hear how they go about it. i guess i will just pick up things here and there. anyway that will do for now, take it easy.

The best way to learn the program is to just get into a working project and face the problems as they come along. I have found this site EXTREMELY helpful when I run into problems. Good Luck.

Welcome to RevitCity! For tilt-up building I have sucessfully used curtain walls to model them. I have attached a corner of one such model to give you something to look at and reverse engineer.

hi guys, thanks for those comments, i think that i will subscribe to dgcad. those turtorials are really helpful. TomDorner, i can't see the attachment that you put, or is that just me? curtain walls is what i have been using to model the tilt up panels but i was having trouble with painting them different colours. so say if i had a long wall of about 12 or so panels and wanted to paint them yellow and blue alternating do i have to create a different wall type with a yellow finish on and then a different wall type with blue finish? anyway would appreciate if you could put up that file, that would be really helpful. cheers
