I have read some of the forum info on mullions and things aren't looking good, but I design churches and there can be close to 25 individual and completely different windows on any given elevation with different mullion patterns for each. Is there an easy way to draw mullions on regular fixed windows, especially during the schematic phase. The only way that I can see is to make a different family for each individual window. There must be an easier way that I have not heard about. Thanks in Advance!

Mainly all I do with simple mullions is extrusions. If they are all fixed windows, make a fixed window family that you can adjust the instance sizes. Then you can edit the window in the family editor, save as a new window and do your extrusion. There isn't going to be an easy way to do custom windows without making a custom window family.

When you refer to mullions, you should understand the difference between what revit refers to as mullions, and we might refer to as mullions. In revit, mullions only refer to the mullions that are placed on to a curtain wall. You could use this optoin as you just draw a curtain wall on top of another and use the cut geometry to inset it into the other. just like a window. It is easy to place orthagonal mullions onto a curtain wall, but you are going to struggle with arcs and you wont automatically generate a window schedule. Mullions in a window family are another story. They are made up, as i'm sure youknow, from extruded/swept/ blended solids inside the family. The only way to get some kind of flexibility with these is to add parameters to position these solids where you need them. You could also add a parameter to an array that lets you control the number of mullions vertically and/or horizontally. Once you have made up a couple of families the next few projects are so much easier, as you have them all ready to go.

Thanks for the info. Seems as though there really is no great way to do custom windows. I am going to try to use sweeps set back into the wall so that I can drag them back and forth. Has anyone tried that and does it work?
