After you create a new Area Scheme under settings, how do you change the names of the Area Types?  For example - The Rentable Area Scheme has the Area Types - building common area, office area, exterior area, floor area, major vertical penetration, and store area.  I want to make one for a City Hall, so I would like my own Area Type categories.

The Area Types built into Revit are BOMA types.  You can add your own Area Type definition though.  This is best done by using a "shared" parameter which will allow for proper scheduling and tagging.  If you have not doen so, establish a "shared parameters" file (see Revit help menu).  Once shared parameters file is established, create a shared parameter in the shared parameters file (hint: carefully organize your shared parameters file).  Assign newly created shared parameter to "Areas".  Fill in the parameter in yur area and then yu can colo fill and schedule by yur new parameter.
