I'm curious to see if anyone here actually uses "shading" and what purpose it really serves. I have on occasion used wireframe, most time I'm in hidden line, 3d I have shading with edges on. I can't ever recall a time I ever used just plain old shading. Am I missing something?

While it doesnt get used much, I think it certainly has its place. Depending on how complex your are modelling, shading can look far better without edges on - less cartoony and more realistic. Of course it would work much better if Revit shaded the working model with radiosity rather than direct light... Shading also works alot better when you turn shadows on...

Wow, nice model. I stand corrected. I guess I was looking from my point of view which is residential homes and it really doesn't look all that good with just shading on. 5 stars for the model.
