We were discussing the different computer configurations and how some hardware might help speed up Revit, so we run some test comparing 2 computers from HP,
First,
Computer 1: HP xw4300
running Intel P4 at 3.6
4 gig of RAM
Nvidia FX1400 with 128 meg of RAM
And 2 80 gig western digital running at raid 0
Computer 2: HP xw4400
Intel 6700 2.66 Dual Core
2 gig of RAM
Nvidia FX1500 with 256 meg of RAM
Hard drive as above
Both machines running XP pro service pack 2
The test was curried out on a 130 meg Revit file, working on a local file, sitting side by side.
Computer 1 was running Revit 9 and computer 2 was running Revit 9.1. the results are quite shocking to say the least:
Cut Section: com1: 35 seconds com2: 24 seconds
Render: com1: 10 minutes com2: 5 minutes
Opening 19 plans right after each other: com1: 2:04 com2: 40seconds
Export floor plan to DWG: com1: 40 seconds com2: 20 seconds
Export plan with 15 views to DWG: com1: 3:05 com2: 35 seconds
Save to central: com1: 2:50 com2: 20 seconds
As you can see this is a very significant difference!
Would love to hear from other people carrying similar test J
