Every revit upgrade comes with its library. But every previous version library has objects which you have built and collected during the life of that version.
What is the best way to transfer all newly generated families and objects into the new and current library?

This is why I've setup an Office Library separate from the Metric Libraries. This way you just use the batch upgrade utility that comes with revit to upgrade your old library and then just replace your old metric library.

Sounds interesting... how do you do it? Is there a tutorial, what are the steps to do this?

On your Revit DVD under extras there is the revit upgrade batch file.
It consists of two files
Upgrade_RFA.bat
Upgrade_RFA.txt
Locate the files in the root directory of the folders you want to update.
The readme states:
Run “Upgrade_RFA.bat” first to create a list of all RFA files in the current folder and all subfolders. Then run the journal file “Upgrade_RFA.txt” by dragging it onto your Revit shortcut.
Revit will then open each of these files, upgrades it and then saves it.
There is also a backup purge bat file for cleaning up all the .000*.rfa files once you've run the batch.
Be sure to set this off at a time you won't be needing your computer as it may take some time depending on how big your library is.
HTH.
