I have a simple problem but i cant seem to figure it out. When i create a wall family i am able to place doors and windows in the created wall in 3D and elevation but not in plan. Is this normal? Thanks

I saw your posting and couldn't help but to try to replicate it.....and no it's not normal. I could not replicate the problem, even with the visibility off it allowed me to place the items.

Did anyone ever resolve this problem??? I too cannot place doors & windows into an 'in place wall family' It will let me do it in the 3D view, but not in plan. Once I get the door into the wall family in the 3D view, I can then see it in plan and move it around and everything. It is really frustrating. - Jon

This has always been the case. Doors and windows cannot be placed in plan for in-place walls and must be inserted in 3D and then adjusted. I don't see it as too much of a problem, its about 15 seconds of extra effort and its not something i'd imagine you woud have to do very often...
