I am a fairly new Revit user, and love its modelling and rendering capabilities, especially the way trees and shrubs automatically change with the seasons.
Here's what I need help with: I'm trying to incorporate a complex landscaping plan into my model. Many of the trees and shrubs specified on the plant list do not exist as Revit families. I'm interested in any suggestions other Revit users might have for modifying tree and shrub families so that the leaves/blossoms are appropriate to the specified species. For example, the Revit maple renders yellow in Autumn. What if the maple that's being called out has red foliage in Autumn? How do I go about changing this?
Alternatively, have other users found any third party vendors of 3d planting images that render up properly in Revit?
Thanks for your comments.

If you find 3rd party plantings I would love to hear about it.
I had a hard time with the limited tree options at first, also. Check this out. Revit has dozens of trees and shrubs. Difficult to believe? They are hidden, more or less. Heres what you do. Place a tree somewhere. Then go to its Properties, Edit/New then Duplicate. Go down to Other and click on Plant Name. TADA. Bulbs, Cacti, Groundcover, Herbaceous, Indoor Plants, Palms,Conifers, Deciduos, Evergreen, and Vines. Right-click on the sample image to the right and you can edit everything from the leaves to the flowers, and even the branches. Now the real question is 'Why are these plants so hard to find?' You got me. Have fun with your new toys.
Hope this helps

Thanks, ArchWestCY! Yes, the question IS why are these plants so hard to find.

The fact these are hard to find is not a REVIT issue, it's an Accurender issue. I started using Accurender with AutoCAD in the 90's. It is hard to figure out but it has a lot of capability.
The most important thing to remember is to keep your project render types seperate from your base library. If you don't, you wil have problems when you work on multiple projects or go back to an old one.

I also find great potential in the accurender plants, but find it hard to manipulate. Some of the parameters are self explanatory, but I don't understand what some do. Does anyone know if accurender has a tutorial on editing and creating your own plants?
