I'm trying to draw an electrical plan and no light fixtures/fans/etc. will go into this plan!!!

We typically use a reflected ceiling plan for this purpose, many of the light fixtures and fans are ceiling based and thus will not insert without a ceiling...

A user in our area came up with a method where he draws an 'invisible' line from the floor to the ceiling and the center of the electrical symbol. When the plan cuts a section through the invisible line, it automatically places the symbol on the floor plan. Play around with the attached example to see how it works.
