I need to export Revit files to AutoCAD DWG's to match specific client standards. Does anyone know of any way to specify between interior and exterior doors in Revit. So, when I export to AutoCAD they will be on different layers.
Thank you,
Matt Coffey

You can try creating a subcategory (either interior or exterior or both) under doors. Then under File >> Import/Export Settings, you can set up how the doors will export to DWG.

I tried that. It still will only export the doors to the same layer. I think I'd need to create a family for interior and exterior doors and somehow specify in the family if they are interior or exterior. I just haven't figured out how to do that yet. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Take a look at this family (assuming you are using Revit 9). I added some subcategories to to the family (while in family editor, Settings >> Object Styles), then selected the Panel extrusion of the door and placed it in the subcategory 'Interior - Panel' for instance. You do this for each element you need to be on a different layer. Then setup your Export settings like mentioned above. You'll probably have to make a seperate door family for exterior and a seperate family for interior to get this to work correctly.
Let me know if you have any other questions about it.
