I think I must have done something worng somewhere.
Just uploaded a family of sun shade louvre. I create it under generic model & once it load it into project, it show up in 3D & elevation but there is an error message prompting if I load it in floor plan & it is invisible in floor plan as well.
First contri but seems like got a bug on it
very sorry for that.

There are a number of possible reasons for this.
1: When the family was created it is made up as a series of objects (solids extruded, revolved etc) each with their own visibility settings. It is possible the visibility settings are set to not appear in floor plans. You can go back to the family, highlight any of the components, then press the visibilty button on the top toolbar to check.
2: It may be above the cut plane that you take your floor plan view at ie: normally floor plans are viewed from say 1500mm above the level, the louvre may be situated above this line therfore invisible. Check on your ceiling plan or the level above.
3: Within your floor view, type 'vv'. This brings up your visibility settings. They are listed by category (similar to layers in autocad) and can be switched off or on within that current view. It may be the category used to create the family is switched off within the view, therefore you can not see it.
I doubt its a bug you have though! Good luck.

I have just checked the family you are referring to and it is as point 2 of my earlier response.
The louvres are simply sitting above your current view. Create a new level above it and view from there. (check your elevations to see what height it is at)

Nice shade structure ale02.
I challenge you to make it parametric though. Up for it? I believe it will be a good learning process. Refer to my tutorial if you don't know where to start.
Cheers!

I just created it fully parametric. However, I'm going to hold off uploading the file just in case you want to give it a go.
Let me know.
Cheers.

Hi Mr.Spot.
If you look carefully in the sun-shade lourves that I have uploaded. There are some errors in assigning material & sub-category. Hope you notice that.
I will see to it to make it parametric for all the dimensions.
For the start up, I am only looking at setting parametic for materials. as you can see in, you can change the materials for the brackets support & sun shade louvres.
Not really have a lot of practices in setting parametic. btw, I am doing a second sun shade lourves at the moment. will upload them once it is done

Yes i did notice that.
However, when making it parametric i used nested families and had to delete those elements anyway.
I'll upload the amended family.
