We have recently purchased a HP designjet 500 with the HPGL 2 card. Once installed, we found that the plotter ran out of memory while printing even the smallest Revit drawings. To solve the memory problem we now send the drawings as bitmaps (the print process being in the PC), however, this process can take in excess of 20min before the first line is plotted. Naturally Revit is inaccessible during this time. Does anybody else have this problem and has anybody been able top solve it?

Hi Johan have you tried asking your HP suppliers if the HP D 500's memory can be upgraded?

I have had this plotter for years and have not experienced the problem you are having w/Revit. I have also maxed out the ram for the plotter from day one. Are you trying to plot drawings with shadows? shadow plotting any view takes a very long time.

Elmo, hi. We have an additional 128MB memory card installed. I believe this to be the maximum currently available for this machine. I have spoken to the local Revit distributors, but they were unable to solve our little problem.

Stevelj, hi. Some of the drawings are with shadow and yes, they are slow to plot. However, even smaller drawings without shadows can take in excess of 15min. What setting are you using for both the plotter and Revit? Perhaps we have the combination wrong.
