I am new to Revit and I am trying to find a way to create light in the interior views that I set up that provides equal and intense ambient light. The problem that I am having is that I am using hundreds of studio lights to illuminate my interior views and the materials are still to dark in the final renderings, as well as, locking up the computer. If anyone knows how to create large and intense spotlights or something that allows for increased ambient light on the interior renderings that decreases the number of lights that need to be placed in the views please help.

have you tried this family? it's a spot light and you can adjust the lumines and the angle... remember, the more lights you put in the slower it will be to render...

Its sometimes also a good idea to give your walls a self luminance value in their material settings...

Interior renderings in Revit/Accustudio of any size are almost impossible. I think the handwriting is on the wall that Viz Render will be the rendering engine of Revit in the near future. The Autodesk store now sells a training DVD on how to use Viz to render Revit output. http://estore.autodesk.com/dr/v2/ec_Main.Entry17C?SID=19515&SP=10023&CID=0&PID=847446&PN=1&V1=847446&V2=&V3=&V4=&V5=11033743&CUR=840&DSP=&PGRP=0&ABCODE=&CACHE_ID=0 (If the above link doesn't work, go to http://estore.autodesk.com and select "Learning & Training" "Media & Entertainment" then under Viz choose "SUPERIOR RENDERINGS: AUTODESK VIZ FOR AEC USERS" Tom

the only thing is that Viz will be phazed out soon, Max is King (again...) I doubt the Viz engine will ever be used with revit, Autodesk much rather you fork out another AU$8000 and buy another program (Max) to do your renders... Smile so don't hold your breath on that one Smile

eldados, Viz is the baby brother of Max right now. What I think is going to happen is that Viz will become "Viz Render" which will only render and not have any geometry creation tools. Max will be the surviving big brother and will be used for rendering, animation and 3D geometry creation (for those not using ACAD 2007, ADT or Revit for the geometry portion). Viz Render is now included with AutoCAD 2007 and ADT. The next logical software to include it with is Revit. The title of the training DVD pretty much gives away the plan. I cannot see Autodesk paying Robert McNeil Associates for the Accurender license renewal to include with Revit when Autodesk has their own rendering engine solutions. My predicition is that Accurender is gone in Revit 10 April 2007. Tom
