Ok,
Been using revit for a while. he problem I have is that when i turn on the shaded view everything is far too bright. So bright that i quite often cant distinguish between objects. Is there any way i can easily sort this or do i have to go through all my materials and use a darker shade color. I see a lot of screenshots of really nice looking shaded models and i get very jelous because mine look terrible.

see if you have 'glow' checked in settings, materials, shading,
maybe you have this checked for several materials.
