I am trying to get my handrails to return to the wall when the terminate. I went to edit the rail and added a short line that turns back toward the wall, and this worked great. Then I went to the bottom of the rail to do the same, and it worked, but... Revit placed a balister on the return. It is sideways, and does not face the wall. It is about to drive me up the wall. Haha. Railings have been really tricky from the start. I looked for a railing tutorial here in Revitcity, but found nothing. Does anyone have any good advice on returns or railings in general. Thanks as always. ArtchWestCY Post edited on 2006-08-21 17:30:13

Try editing the railing type to show no end baluster. Edit the railing under it's properties you should get options to edit "rail structure" or "baluster placement", select to edit baluster, it should come up with a variety of parameters, under "Posts" select "none" for the baluster relating to the one you want to eliminate. You will need to make sure that by clearing whichever baluster may delete corresponding balusters elsewhere in the railing. Hope this helps

Look in the families under profile/railings/general at the handrail extensions. Modify this concept to make your return - this replaces the starting & ending post.
