I am brand new to Revit and am having a dense moment. All I want to do is create an editable text field in my titleblock. But I find that when insert the titleblock into a drawing I can not edit text. So I tried using labels, but I can not get them to display sample text of my own choosing. How do I create a new label to my own specifications OR how do I create a plain editble text field?

Have you tried the tutorial? If the labels are not displaying what you what just change them after you have load it into your project. Go to Settings<Project Information.

I am not happy with the default text and I want to be able to have my own titles. I tried changing the Sample Text but that didn't do anything useful. for example what I want is if I have non-editable text "Drawn:" I want to follow it with editable text "###" rather than "Author".

When you add the parameter to the editable text down the bottom there is an box with example text, put in what you need there. Drawn by & Checked by will only come in with this text. Post edited on 2006-08-18 01:31:56

So is there any way to have editable text that comes in with sample text of my own choosing?

open the title block in a new drawing and set the type you want and design and the save it as your main titleblock. Be sure to change the name to something different... Example of titleblock editing... Post edited on 2006-08-20 21:17:41 Post edited on 2006-08-20 21:18:05 Post edited on 2006-08-20 21:18:21

in particular how do I save it as my main titleblock? Are you saying that once I do this I can insert it as a normal titleblock? Can I then delete the old titleblock?

If you create a new parameter in a titlblock you need to make it a shared parameter and assign that shared parameter into your project in order for you to edit it there.
