I have had a curious problem with Revit ever since I installed it on my machine. I have re-installed it, installed different versions, etc. It seems to happen only on this specific machine and I have been unable to find any information about this problem. The problem is this: Whenever I draw, select, etc. any object, the temporary dimensions display off the screen and very, very large. I can zoom out (really far out) and I begin to see huge chunks of the temporary dimensions, but never the entire thing. Any ideas? I have noticed other strange behavior in the program that seems related to this. Whenever selecting or drawing objects, even though my pointer may be very far from an object, the tool that I happen to be using attempts to select or snap to this object. For example, if I draw a 30' wall and attempt to draw a second wall (without the chain option selected, two separate walls), I can be a far away as 30' from this first wall and still inadvertently snapping to it. Again, I have found nothing in any forums, help screens, or tutorials related to this problems. I want to learn this program but I can't even get started due to this problem(s). I have installed the same demos on other machines without this problem(s). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps your problem have something to do with "view Scale" but I'm realy not sure of that.

Sounds like a video card or related issue as Revit behaves fine for me. Make sure you are not using an Open GL card that is not supported by Revit in the problem machine. Failing that try looking at your video settings and see if anything there can be changed to solve the problem. Tom

Thanks everyone for the help thus far.  This is an update to my current situation...  The architecture firm I work for ordered a new Graphics Card for my computer in an attempt to fix the symptoms described in this thread and the new Graphics Card did not help.  We did verify via Autodesk's website that the new Card was compatible with revit.  So I'm back at the drawing board.  If anyone has any further ideas I'd appreciate them.  Thank you.

Ok, just to update this thread so as to bring some closure to this annoying problem; here is the process that fixed the issue.

So as a frustrated last resort; I hooked up a newer monitor (just to see), restarted, and the previous symptoms disappeared - they were no longer plaguing my machine like they have for the past month.  Then I hooked up my old monitor (the one that wasn’t working previously) and now it works just like the new one.  So I my hypothesis is that windows updated a driver that it previously thought was adequate.  The new monitor tricked windows, forcing it to update.  Or at least that’s what I think happened.  I hope this will help anyone encountering this problem.
