I found an insulation fill pattern which was a model type, but I need a drafting type. When I changed it to drafting on the txt document, it lost its pattern. Does anyone know how to convert a model type pattern to a drafting type? Or has anyone already created a drafting insulation fill pattern? I'd appreciate any help.

Is there a reason yu do not want to use the built-in Revit batt insulation tool found on the Drafting tab?

Thanks for the quick reply. I am trying to create a new material which would be a metal stud with batt insulation. In order for this to show in the section, I have to create a fill pattern (must be drafting type). If I can create a wall family that already has the insulation within the studs, I can avoid having to draw in the insulation at every section cut. It should appear automatically (like CMU or rigid insulation) if I can create a .pat file for it.

In the AutoCAD world as I remember, batt insulation was accomplished using a LISP or Diesel routine using a series of bulge arcs. I don't have any batt insulation acad hatches, but you may try to find one or maybe someone on this site has one. Any ACAD or most CAD package hatches can be used in Revit by adding the proper header to the pattern (see Revit help file).

in the autocad world, batt insulation is a linetype now.
but you should be able run a hatch pattern generator on a sample of this and create a .pat file

Has anyone found a solution for this? I am using Revit 2013 and there is no batt insulation hatch. There is a rigid insulation hatch, but no hatch for batt insulation. I have tried using various CAD .pat files but none of them have worked.
Thanks.

Batt insulation has been around from the beginning. Look on your detail tab.
